The Rolwes Company isn’t just a new home construction company in St. Louis. We’re also members of the St. Louis community, and we like to give back to that community throughout the year. We’d like to introduce you to four of the local causes that your favorite home builder and our employees support through the year.
This holiday season Rolwes Company is proud to join with the St. Louis Crisis Nursery, a 24-hour safe haven dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect. The Crisis Nursery offers short-term, emergency shelter for children, birth through age 12, whose families are faced with emergencies or who are in crisis.
But the nursery does so much more than that. They have several programs that help families to minimize stress and reduce isolation, helping to ensure stability and safety for their family by building upon existing family strengths. In addition, the Nursery partners with local homeless shelters and conducts street outreach so that desperate families and children receive counseling, basic necessities, immediate crisis care for the children and concrete help to secure more permanent shelter. These are just a couple of the many programs the Crisis Nursery supports.
In December, our goal is to provide Holiday Wish Bags for some of our community’s most vulnerable members. Wish Bags are matched with children in need for the holidays; children staying at Crisis Nurseries, children staying in homeless shelters, and children whose families will have crises come up over the next month (house fires, evictions, domestic violence, etc.)
You can join our effort and give back to your community by dropping off a Wish Bag at one of the five Rolwes Communities listed below. Please include 2-3 items in each child’s Holiday Wish Bag and label it with the chosen age and gender.
Crisis Nursery will match it with a child in need for the holidays. Suggested items range from diapers, to toys, to journals, depending on age. Go to their webpage for suggested items. You can drop your bags off at the following Rolwes Company communities through December 14 and we’ll deliver them to the Crisis Nursery.

With new home construction in St Louis being our forte, it’s no surprise that several of our employees also support Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis. Each year the organization coordinates an Adopt A Family Program with Habitat homeowners who need extra assistance around the holiday season. This year Habitat will be hosting a Winter Wonderland which will allow Habitat families in need to “shop” for their loved ones and appreciate the joy of giving from the items donated to our “Santa Workshop.”
If you are interested in adopting a family or fulfilling a Wishlist gift, click here to can shop the registries below. Unwrapped gifts can be delivered or shipped to Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis’ administrative offices no later than Wednesday, December 5.

Children have a big impact on all our lives, whether they belong to us, our friends, or our neighbors. Missouri currently has thousands of children in foster care. At any given time, Jefferson County has between 650-800 of those children in foster care, many of whom are waiting for forever homes through the adoption process.
The Jefferson County Foster Children’s Fund provides medical supplies or machines that insurance won’t cover, psychological services, as well as educational tools and services, and much more to foster children and families throughout the year.
JCFCF is currently seeking donations to support their annual Children’s Holiday Party on December 7, 2018. For many children, this party may be the first Christmas they have ever experienced. Monetary donations for pizza, cookies, drinks, supplies for ‘Pictures with Santa,’ as well as gifts for children from birth to age 18. Click here can see a list of suggested items by clicking the link below.
Checks should be written to JCFCF or Jefferson County Foster Children’s Fund and can be sent to PO Box 445, Hillsboro, MO 63050. Drop-off donations can be dropped off at our office at 10279 Business 21 (rear of building), Hillsboro, MO 63050 on Wednesdays from 9:30am – 2pm or by appointment.
Our final organization comes from our St. Charles County communities. As a home builder in the St. Louis area, we don’t want to forget the importance of a warm and safe home for “man’s best friend”. Shelter Friends is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that promotes the health and welfare of homeless animals in St. Charles, Missouri. SF is not a rescue group, but a shelter assistance and networking group whose purpose is to work directly with animals at the shelter and to help them find rescue or adoption to their future “furrever” new homes.
Since 2013, Shelter-Friends has assisted St. Charles animal control with over 2000 animals being saved to date. The euthanasia rate has dropped from 34% in 2012 to just under 3% in 2017, essentially helping to turn a kill shelter into a no-kill shelter. No adoptable animals have been euthanized since July of 2013!
Shelter Friends is seeking volunteers to walk dogs, play with cats, clean cages/kennels, answer phones, transport dogs and cats for rescue, spay/neuter, and other vet appointments, and more. Or, if you prefer to make a donation, click here to do so at their website.
If you don’t currently support a local organization, please consider joining us in giving back to one of the causes above. If you have an organization near and dear to your heart, please let us know about it in the comments.
